Emily Paul:

Emily Pauls’ paintings focus on creating a sense of atmosphere through seemingly random objects. Placed on a background of intuitive mixed media, together these objects portray a vibe. Text and patterns peek out of layers of paint and pastel in the background further adding to the overall ambiance of each unique piece. In a sense, her goal is to create an impression of personality, a person-less portrait.

Alan Abdulkadar:

The search for the body’s memory in space, how the body is woven into being part of its environment that creates traces, and how turns into lost and silent moments in time. As humans move forward, what we leave behind and how we are able to speak of our memories in relation to the physical environment that we occupy. In addition, this project intertwines with a painting by questioning why photography needs to be the medium of a traditional documentary or why it has to have a realistic appearance.

A few weeks ago a man chased me and my friend with a knife. It was a big knife. While we ran I could hardly speak on the phone to 911. I was out of breath and running as fast as I could. I really thought we were going to die. 

When we could we would scream for help. But no one heard us. If they did, they certainly didn’t come to help us. 

The truth is I’ve been screaming for help my entire life and no one has ever heard me. I am screaming now. Louder than ever.

No one has shown up.
