Make.Shift Gallery and the Whatcom Museum are joining forces for a juried exhibition this September called “Making History: Art from the Archive.” We have invited both professional and emerging artists to submit original works incorporating, or inspired by, images from the Whatcom Museum Photos Archives. Pieces have been selected by a jury of professional artists, Make.Shift Gallery committee members, and Whatcom Museum staff. Works will be displayed along with the inspiring image selected from the archive by the artist. Please join us this First Friday for an artistic look at the enticing history of the City of Subdued Excitement!

The Whatcom Museum has been collecting archival materials since it was founded in 1941. The Museum’s Photo Archives primarily focus on photographic material, with an emphasis on regional photographers and subject matter. For more information about the Photo Archives visit whatcommuseum.org. For more information about the Downtown Art Walk or Make.Shift please visit our website at makeshiftproject.com or contact Jessyca Murphy at gallery@makeshiftproject.com.
