Hourly Music Practice Space

Our green room doubles as an hourly practice space for local bands and musicians. You can bring your own instruments or use our backline. The practice space includes a full drum kit, PA system, and several guitars, basses, keyboards, amps. More fun things coming soon!

• Rates: $20/hour or 50% off for Pass Holders (sliding scale pricing available)

• Hours: Sunday-Thursday, 5:00pm-11:00pm

• PLEASE NOTE: Practice time can only be scheduled 48 or more hours in advance. If you have a regular practice time you’d like to secure, we encourage you to book early.

Open Art Studio

Our classroom space doubles as an hourly art studio rental. You can bring your own supplies or use any of the materials in the space. We have tons of paints, collage materials, fabric, sewing materials, and more! Need a space to finish a project? Does your 10 year old want an artistic birthday party? We’ve got you covered! More fun things coming soon!

Are you part of a group that needs a space to meet? With ample tables and chairs, a white board, and plenty of pens and pencils, this space works well for meetings and small gatherings. See group rates below.

• Group Rates: $50/hour; $25/hour for non-profits and community organizing groups (incidental deposit fee applies)

• Hours: Sunday-Thursday, 12:00pm-11:00pm

Private VENUE Rentals

Need a large room to host a birthday party, teach a class, host a poetry reading, film screening, or host another private event? Our venue space is available for private rentals.

Need a smaller room? See the “group rates” above for our Open Art Studio space! It’s great for smaller parties, D&D groups, board game nights, meetings, & more!

Rates

• $100/hour before 5 p.m. (Note: no amplified sound is allowed before 5pm)

• $75/hour after 5 p.m.

• $500 for whole night from 5 p.m. - midnight

• 50% discount for non-profits and grassroots community organizing groups

• Larger events may be subject to a $500 security deposit

Additional fees

• Sound engineer: $20/hour

• Door person/security: $20/hour

Month-to-Month Studios

Make.Shift is home to 12 private art studios and 6 band practice spaces*, rented on a month-to-month lease. Size, rates, and availability vary.

*Practice hours for bands are 5PM - midnight, 7 days a week. There is 24-hour access for load-in, load-out, etc., but amplified music is only allowed between 5PM & midnight due to the city’s downtown noise ordinance.

If you are interested in renting a studio on a monthly basis, please complete the Make.Shift Tenant Application (you can access it by clicking the button below!) Once you complete that application, you are automatically added to the waitlist. When a studio becomes available, we will email the waitlist to announce scheduled group viewings of the space. From there, the rental process is first-come, first-serve for interested applicants.

PLEASE NOTE: Because we receive so many inquiries and only have a limited number of studios, we cannot respond to all studio-related emails. If you don’t hear back, don’t worry— you can rest assured that you’ve been automatically added to the waitlist and we’ll be in touch when we have a spot open!
