TRESLES // CALIFORNIA DEATH WORM // Off/Kilter

TRESLES // CALIFORNIA DEATH WORM // Off/Kilter

Trestles in a beach rock project from Santa Cruz, California. Formed in 2021, the new band made a name for themselves playing in the college rock circuit during the major post-pandemic scene resurgence. While Trestles definitely allows the beach town aesthetic of Santa Cruz to seep into their music, the band is more interested in creating a sound that equally criticizes and celebrates west coast garage rock tradition. By finding a balance between the pretension of 1960’s musicianship and the accessibility of modern indie rock textures and pop sensibility, the band’s sound aims to be relentlessly rooted in the present. This attitude is delivered through sarcastic, yet aware lyrics that aim to make living in the moment feel like a study in social politics. Trestles' music is plainly meant for whoever who wants to hear it.

MAKE.SHIFT PRESENTS: NEW BAND NIGHT

It could be you!

“Are you having a hard time getting into the scene? Are you struggling to form and find a bill? Don’t know where to play or who to play with? Looking for safe spaces to play?”

Make.Shift, continuing its mission of amplifying the voices of vulnerable communities in the arts, will host and create an event aimed at giving newer bands a real-life experience of what it’s like to book a show, perform, go through sound check, record, and be compensated. The whole shadooby!

The goal is not only to encourage new bands to step into the scene, but also to provide an educational and community-building experience. Bands will learn the basics of putting on a show, sound-checking, connecting with each other, and gaining valuable insight for booking shows and gigs in the future. All of this will take place in a safe, welcoming, all-ages space that supports growth, creativity, and collaboration.

Applications open from August 30th to October 1st at 5pm. Confirmation letters sent out October 5th.

Poetry of Place

Explore how our identities and memories are shaped by both the environment we inhabit and the experiences we carry. Like a quilt, made up of remnants, scraps, and pieces, we too are a collection of fragments—our histories, families, and the places we’ve encountered.

Come Outside group art show

"Come Outside" aims to showcase the dichotomy of the natural and built environements around us. Through this exploration, the exhibition invites viewers to reflect on the ways these spaces intersect, coexist, and sometimes clash. By examining our relationship with both, we can uncover new perspectives on how we shape and are shaped by our environment.
