Block-Printing Techniques
Block-Printing Techniques
Saturday, November 9th & 16th from 1-3pm at MakeShift Art Space (306 Flora St.) $40, NOTAFLOF. Facilitated by local artist Favio Guzman.
Favio Guzman-Estrada, a local Indigenqueer multidisciplinary artist, will facilitate the next two weeks of the workshop and teach attendees block printing techniques. After studying in Guam and seeing ancient CHamoru pottery remnants with intricate designs (ceramics and pictographs in caves), Favi started practicing block-printing, and has since taught several workshops!
The first session on Nov 9th will include introductions, group norms, and a history of block printing practices, and participants will start designing their blocks.
The second session on November 16th will then get into carving and printing on clothes & fabrics!
You can stay connected with Favi by following them on Instagram @favioguzman_, where you can book them for photos and buy their works at art markets! You can see Favi’s work now at Eleventh Hour.
All ages and experience levels are welcome!
No one is turned away for lack of funds. Additionally, sliding scale pricing is available. Please contact us first for this option.
