Abstraction in Portraiture
Abstraction in Portraiture
Saturday, January 11th & 18th from 1-3pm at MakeShift Art Space (306 Flora St.) $30, NOTAFLOF & sliding-scale pricing available. Facilitated by Zion Georges (@zionartistry).
These workshops will explore drawing abstract representations of emotional expressions on the face through proportions, values, and color.
In the first workshop, we will see various artistic styles and their use of size and shape of facial features to elicit specific emotions. From this observation, we will begin to create our sketches using these distortions.
In our second class, we will have our sketches and begin to use color and shading to create more emotive and surreal depictions of the face.
Throughout these classes, participants will deepen their understanding of the importance of art that deviates from realism and how abstractions can communicate complex human emotions.
All ages and experience levels are welcome!
No one is turned away for lack of funds. Additionally, sliding scale pricing is available. Please contact us first for this option.
