NO BOOZE/NO DRUGS/NO JERKS

Justice Yeldham 280619
Bellingham @ Make.Shift (https://www.makeshiftproject.com/)
+ Jerry Core (https://jerrycore9000.bandcamp.com/)
+ Twin Sibling
+ Guillotine Eyes
What's described as "a trumpet player trapped in a two dimensional universe" is in fact the unique work of Lucas Abela (also know as Justice Yeldham), a maverick musician with an unhealthy obsession with sheets of broken glass. In his now infamous show which has astonished and bemused countless people in over 45 countries, Abela ecstatically purses his lips against panes of amplified glass whilst deftly employing various vocal techniques ranging from throat singing to raspberries, to turn the discarded shards into crude musical instruments. The results are a wild array of oddly controlled cacophonous noise teetering on the edge of music. This show quite simply needs to be witnessed to be fully appreciated, let alone understood.

Wizard Apprentice:

U.R.L.G.U.R.L. was created by independent singer-songwriter, electronic music producer, and motion graphics artist, Wizard Apprentice. As a highly-sensitive introvert, her multimedia projects are attempts to energetically battle an overwhelming world. Her music is a combination of lyrical precision; intentional, minimalistic composition; and technically-amateurish charm. she creates digitally-based media that takes advantage of accessible, user-friendly technology; allowing her to skip time-consuming learning curves and get straight to focusing on inventing personalized yet highly-relatable language for deeply subtle and internal experiences. She is not a gear-head, rather, a digital folk artist who vividly and simplistically expresses her inner world using resourcefulness and honesty. Her video work incorporates green screen graphics, digital puppetry, and minimalistic compositing to produce imagery that’s cerebral, psychedelic, campy, and hypnotic. She combines song and video to create multimedia live performances that explore intimate emotional themes ranging from the challenges/triumphs of being a Black empath to overstimulation in the Internet Age.

Your Heart Breaks is a queer band based in Seattle, Washington. Originally founded by Clyde Petersen in Bellingham, Washington in 1999, Your Heart Breaks has toured the world for 20 years as both a solo performer and a large ensemble. Their new album, Drone Butch Blues is out on Sofaburn Records in April 2019.

In Aisle Eight

Rock like you’ve never heard before

Gypsy Temple

“Listen. It’s after dark, and the stage is pulsing with bass and drums. There’s a pair of shimmering saxophones, a determined trumpet player, a cello bow with two strings left unsnapped, drum sticks pounding, bass coming up through the floor boards in emphatic rock and roll morse code, all while a silver guitar thrashing to the melody rips into the next song commandeered by an afro the size of a kick drum shaking like a palm tree in a hurricane. The beat picks up, the music grows louder and louder until band and crowd are worked up beyond return. Strings are broken, reeds are split, but the band plays on as one undeniable soul. They reach the breaking point and everyone cuts out on the final chord, leaving just the feedback of the guitar to blaze across the room. A few moments pass. They look around at each other, and break into ear to ear grins. The lead singer’s stage charisma is undeniable. This inspired band meets their fearless leader’s energy with sheer love of the music in wild abandon. “

Marshall Law Band

Marshall Law Band is 6 amazing musicians coming together to give the world a one-of-a-kind Funk-Hop sound!

9th Annual Valentine's Day Cover Show

SUBMISSIONS: OPEN

I'M NEW, WHAT'S GOING ON HERE?
For 9 years now Make.Shift has hosted the annual Valentines Day Cover Show! What started out as an anti v-day pop punk cover show has since evolved into the very specific genre of "whatever you loved to listen to in high school." Local musicians are coming together to play short sets of their favorite bands! ...and you can be one of them! Wow! We strongly suggest your fave bands from the 90s, early 00's and of course pop punk.

GREAT! I'M PUTTING TOGETHER SOMETHING RIGHT NOW!
Hold on a second people, there are some rules.

OK SO, WHAT ARE THE RULES?
The rules are that you have to email makeshiftvday@gmail.com with who you are, who's in your band and who you want to cover. The deadline for entry is Monday, December 3rd, 2018 at Noon. You have to email us.
This will be our line of communication from here on out.

I CAN COVER ANY BAND?
Well, we're saying no bands from 2018's show:
Amy Winehouse, Thursday, Dixie Chicks, Danzig, Faith No More, The Cramps, Social Distortion, Buzzcocks, The Mountain Goats, My Chemical Romance, Now That’s What I Call Music, Pink, Good Charlotte, NSYNC*, Coldplay, The Velvet Underground, Tegan and Sara, The Cure, & The Killers.

But, anything done in the previous years is up for grabs.

AW MAN, COLDPLAY IS MY FAVORITE BAND!
That's unfortunate.

WHEN THE HECK IS THIS AMAZING, LIFE-CHANGING EVENT?
Friday February 15th, and Saturday February 16th.

IF YOU SIGN UP PLEASE LET US KNOW IF YOU AREN'T AVAILABLE EITHER OF THOSE NIGHTS!
Keep in mind any unavailability will affect our decision on who's playing the show.

HOW LONG OF A SET SHOULD WE DO?
Plan for 25 minutes of music.

I HAVE SOME MORE QUESTIONS!
I'm sure your mom is proud of your inquisitive mind, but I'm tired of typing this thing. Email your questions to makeshiftvday@gmail.com.

Just remember, NO PDA!

No Booze, No Drugs, No Jerks

The Nova Darlings (Cali)

thenovadarlings.com

Harkening back to the 90’s disaffected guitar sound of artists like Built to Spill and Elliott Smith, the Novas evoke strains of the eclectic. A sugared folk melody will find it’s way buried in a James Brown-esque, psych-rock drum beat. Drawing from early 2000’s bands like The Shins, The Strokes, and The Postal Service, the Darlings will bring you something that fits in your childhood bedroom or your parent’s garage, but will slam you with echoes from your mom’s record collection and catapult you sweetly into cosmic nothingness.

Rose's Thorn

https://rosesthorn.bandcamp.com/

Rose's Thorn creates a sound that blends love with heartache and light with darkness. Each song, fueled by ample passion, tells a different story. Their sound, a combination of grunge-pop and alt-rock will seduce your senses.
